Recently on the way to visit a sick relative, I had to pass through an area of Tel-Aviv that leans to the Far-Left. I took a photo of the posters dedicated to the many IDF soldiers killed in the war against Hamas in that area. Far-Left activists had crossed out the the Hebrew words “Until Victory” at the bottom of the poster.
At the outset the Far-Left was actually ripping down the posters, but after receiving too much negative feedback for insulting dead Israeli heroes, the Far-Left switched tactics to just scribbling out the words in Hebrew, “Until Victory”.
Why is the Far-Left against victory?
They have both selfish and ideological reasons for opposing victory.
The selfish reasons are that many of the Far-Left have an economic interest in having Israeli’s army losing the war through a lob-sided hostage deal or some type of phony cease-fire deal, for a number of reasons.
-
- Some of the Far-Left protesters are funded by foreign governments or Left-wing philanthropists because a loss by Israel fits their objectives. It has been discovered for example, that the Biden administration through USAID heavily funded Israel’s Far-Left!
- The Israeli Deep State allows illegal or at least unethical privileges towards left-wing individuals, social movements, academic institutions, media outlets, and business monopolies that will be harmed if Netanyahu’s right of center of government is allowed to operate without sabotage. Netanyahu’s government being bogged down by a war of attrition, has a weakened ability to make social, economic, judicial, and political reforms, thus protecting the perks, the bloated public-sector pensions, the chances for graft and blackmail, etc. granted to the left by the Deep State. For those that read Hebrew the following are 2 links that provide samples of how the Deep State operates – link 1 – link 2.
- Religious families in Israel on the average have more children than secular families which worries the Far-Left that the type of society that they find attractive and appealing is going to change permanently, unless they can get back to power and find a way to change the trends. They hope to either dilute the Jewish population with Non-Jewish immigrants, and/or fake converts or to use the government to secularize the population through the army draft, mass media, judicial fiats, and economic blackmail. In their eyes the ends of preserving society according to the way that fits their ideals, justifies the means of causing a war loss or stalemate, which they believe will bring the downfall of the Netanyahu coalition and a return of a left-wing coalition in the upcoming election.
- Furthermore pro-terror Arab voters are key members of the anti-Netanyahu coalition. Many of the Far-Left are worried that Netanyahu under pressure from Itamar Ben-Gvir will agree to measures that weaken the power of this voter bloc. In addition they have demonized the supporters of Ben-Gvir of being the Jewish version of the Nazis.
- Unlike some members of the Netanyahu bloc that believe that the lives of Jewish soldiers take precedence over the lives of enemy civilians, the left believes the lives of enemy civilians take precedence. The Netanyahu bloc largely believes that the moral claim of the Jewish people to the land of Israel is stronger than the moral claims of the Arabs. The left believes the claims of the Arabs are either equal or superior to the moral claims of the Jews. The Far-Left feels we have to concede land to the Arabs, to both earn their love and to provide compensation for wrongful acts of the past.
Seeing the Far-Left in this light makes it easier to understand why they are desperately trying to keep the worst head of Israel’s secret police, the G.S.S. (also known as “Shabak”) in power, despite the fact that the secret police had the ability to prevent the October 7th (Shmini Atzeret) massacre and failed to do the job.
That is to say, because Ronen Bar, the head of the G.S.S (Shabak) is perceived as currently using the power of the secret police against the Netanyahu government all is forgiven. All is overlooked. It doesn’t matter that the Netanyahu government clearly has the right to fire Ronen Bar.
If it serves to weaken Netanyahu, a legal theory will be invented to try to force the continuation of Bar as head of the secret police.
Don’t take their arguments seriously. It is just propaganda camouflage for their true goals. If it fits their needs they would take the opposite position on the issues of the day.

I wish to clarify that I have not yet decided to endorse any particular Israeli party at this point in time!
