A Quote from IsraelNationalNews: US Senator Ted Cruz on Thursday condemned NYC Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani for his anti-Israel statements, following Mamdani’s victory in his party’s primaries.
“ON OCTOBER 8, he couldn’t bring himself to condemn Hamas, the murder of 1200 Jews, or the rape of women & little girls,” Cruz wrote on X. “Instead, he just…blamed Israel.”
“On October 8.”
Over 250 people were kidnapped and over 1,200 murdered in Hamas’ October 7, 2023, massacre of Israelis and foreigners in communities near the Gaza-Israel border. The vast majority of the victims were civilians, and a large percentage were young people attending the Nova music festival.
Cruz’s tweet quoted Mamdani’s October 8, 2023, tweet, which read: “My statement on the last 36 hours across Israel and Palestine: I mourn the hundreds of people killed across Israel and Palestine in the last 36 hours. Netanyahu’s declaration of war, the Israeli government’s decision to cut electricity to Gaza, and Knesset members calling for another Nakba, will undoubtedly lead to more violence and suffering in the days and weeks to come.”
“The path towards a just and lasting peace can only begin by ending the occupation and dismantling apartheid.”
Rabbi Yehuda Epstein, Chairman of Kedushat Tzion thinks this is a wake-up call for Aliyah
Here is a brief translated excerpt of his words:
Thursday, 30th of Sivan, 5785
Jews of America, the time has come to wake- up to reality — the time has come to come home!
In New York, primaries were held for the Democratic mayoral candidacy, in which the winner was an anti-Israel, BDS-supporting candidate who openly supports the murderous Gazans. He is a progressive supporter, a socialist — and some say even a communist. In short, a clearly left-wing figure with all the characteristics of the global anti-semitic left, the kind of person we see on flotillas to Gaza and in violent anarchist protests.
Many here in Israel are unaware, but New York is the city with the largest Jewish population in the world — far more than Jerusalem. And if the Democratic candidate indeed wins the mayoralty of this overwhelmingly Democratic city, it will be a resounding wake-up call for those who have thus far deluded themselves into thinking that America is different from pre-Holocaust Europe, and that Jews can live there peacefully without fearing what lies ahead.
Comment by Shlomo Moshe Scheinman: I think a more obvious lesson should be learned. Namely, mainstream Democrats are now firmly Anti-Israel.
Given this assumption is true, it is important for Israel to base its foreign policy on the assumption that in some point in the future there will be an arms embargo and perhaps economic boycott by the U.S.A. against Israel. Israel should start making preparations for that reality now!
Comment #2: Rabbi Prof. Dov Fischer seems to agree with Rabbi Yehuda Epstein on the lesson to be learned from Mamdani’s victory.
