In the U.S. the ground is shaking. Leftists abroad and in the country are shouting “Supreme Court justices in the U.S. have decided to abolish the constitutional right to abortion”. Translation of their statement is that the U.S.A. High Court has removed, the legal right of a mother to murder her children. The right of a doctor to slice up a living fetus into pieces within a woman’s body in order to take it out piece by piece.
This is not a woman who has to go through the process in order to save her life from a medical complication. These are cases where the family was planning to buy a new car or take a vacation trip and suddenly the woman finds out that she is in advanced pregnancy. The law allowed the killing of a live fetus for these lofty values. And those cases, the U.S. Supreme Courts are about to overturn.
In a Hebrew Op-Ed on the Arutz 7 web site and also on his May 3 Facebook page, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu compared the Roe vs. Wade Decision of a Mother’s Right to Abortion to the “Legal” Decision of Pharaoh’s government that Pharaoh had the “right” to toss the babies of his subjects into the Nile.
Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu ends his Op-Ed with the assertion that while in theory there is a law on the books in Israel to prevent a mother murdering her fetus but in practice in 99% of the cases the judicial system accepts the flimsiest of excuses to permit the process and does not enforce the law.
The next time so-called progressives in Israel, bring up “the rule of law”, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu suggests we remind them of their hypocritical stance when it comes to enforcing the anti-abortion laws.
