Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, Cherethite people! The word of Hashem is against you, Canaan land of the Philistines, and I will destroy you so that there shall not be an inhabitant (Tzephaniah / Zephaniah Chapter 2 verse 5).
Radak’s commentary:
The Hebrew word, חבל Chevel, of the sea, means portion, similar to the phrase (in Dvarim / Deut. 32:9)
חבל Chevel of his heritage, which means portion; and this is the land of the Plishtim (Philistines) close to the sea, as it is written (Shmot / Exodus 23:31) until the Plishtim (Philistines) Sea and he called “Woe upon them” for their land shall be destroyed.
Cherethite people – Plishtim (Philistines) shall be called Cherethite, as it is stated, (I Shmuel / Samuel 30:1, 30:14) to the south of the Cherethite and it is stated (Yechezkel / Ezekiel 25:16) and I will cut off the Cherethite, and Yonatan translated, nation that is liable to destruction.
Canaan land of the Plishtim (Philistines). As it is written, to the Canaanite it shall be considered (Yehoshua / Joshua 13:3) the five lords of the Plishtim (Philistines) etc.
